09:51:31 <craige[m]> I recently switched to xmonad + KDE from just xmonad. It's been a smooth and excellent transition.
09:51:31 <craige[m]> Enlightenment is excellent (and my fallback WM).
10:01:26 <xmonadtrack> xmonad Tony Zorman https://github.com/xmonad/xmonad/pull/405 * v0.17.0-67-gbf6e66b: X.Operations: Export setNumlockMask, grabKeys (4 weeks ago, 3 files, 44+ 31-) https://github.com/xmonad/xmonad/commit/bf6e66b100fa
10:01:39 liskin[m] joins (~liskinmat@2001:470:69fc:105::768)
10:23:40 <Solid> mh, might be good to only fire these kinds of alerts for new prs
10:42:53 <liskin> has anyone seen the EWMH support window disappearing?
10:43:54 <liskin> it's been happening here probably since forever, that when I relaunch chrome after having my session open for a few days/weeks that it doesn't detect the WM and moving tabs and window activation is acting different/doesn't work at all
10:44:08 <liskin> and wmctrl -m reports BadWindow
10:44:56 <liskin> easily worked around by restarting, just… weird, and weirder still that I haven't heard anyone else mention it
10:45:17 <liskin> (probably should just file an issue so it doesn't get lost, as I'm still fairly busy with other stuff these days)
10:50:30 qbt joins (~qbt@user/edun)
11:29:19 × werneta quits (~werneta@70-142-214-115.lightspeed.irvnca.sbcglobal.net) (Remote host closed the connection)

12:06:39 <geekosaur> seems to work fine here

12:19:49 kaskal joins (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net)
12:25:35 <geekosaur> Solid, it can't really tell the difference between PRs and branches, nor can it tell the difference between a normal commit and a force push
12:25:57 <Solid> I see
12:26:03 <geekosaur> it's reporting the same thing a `git pull` does
12:26:22 <geekosaur> well, `git fetch` except most people don't pull the PR refs
12:59:08 Guest3 joins (~textual@user/polo)
13:01:09 Guest3 is now known as Polo
13:11:31 × Polo quits (~textual@user/polo) (Quit: Textual IRC Client: www.textualapp.com)

13:45:47 jao joins (~jao@cpc103048-sgyl39-2-0-cust502.18-2.cable.virginm.net)
13:58:17 <liskin> but we could tell it to only report pushes to master, right?
13:58:53 <liskin> (and possibly main, because new repos might default to main, at least in my git setup)
14:00:10 <geekosaur> I could probably mod it to not grab PRs at all
14:00:44 <geekosaur> although then I wonder if there's enough activity to justify having it at all
14:10:42 CodeBitCookie[m] is now known as bitblit
14:34:44 × jao quits (~jao@cpc103048-sgyl39-2-0-cust502.18-2.cable.virginm.net) (Read error: Connection reset by peer)

14:43:27 kaskal joins (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net)
14:44:50 × jao quits (~jao@cpc103048-sgyl39-2-0-cust502.18-2.cable.virginm.net) (Remote host closed the connection)

15:14:52 kaskal joins (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net)
15:36:48 × benin0 quits (~benin@183.82.177.174) (Quit: The Lounge - https://thelounge.chat)
15:42:49 <liskin> depends on what the intended use case is
15:43:14 <liskin> I already get emails about pushes to PRs, as does everyone who watches the repos
15:43:30 <liskin> but pushes to master (or any other branch without a PR) doesn't send an email
15:43:51 <liskin> I do get notified about those in the github rss feed, but I'm probably the only one following that
15:44:19 <liskin> so notifications here about pushes to non-PR branches would be valuable I think
15:48:34 × kaskal quits (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net) (Quit: ZNC - https://znc.in)
15:48:38 × qbt quits (~qbt@user/edun) (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)

15:55:46 kaskal joins (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net)
16:00:09 <geekosaur> I think the right way to deal with that is just to block direct pushes to master
16:00:29 <geekosaur> (I've done it once or twice but only for small patches to documentation that didn't seem worth a PR)
16:00:41 <Solid> but for that it's quite useful tbh
16:00:48 × liskin[m] quits (~liskinmat@2001:470:69fc:105::768) (Quit: You have been kicked for being idle)
16:00:51 <Solid> I wouldn't want to go through PRs for every tiny one liner
16:01:14 liskin[m] joins (~liskinmat@2001:470:69fc:105::768)
16:05:54 × kaskal quits (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net) (Quit: ZNC - https://znc.in)
16:07:43 kaskal joins (~kaskal@213-225-33-152.nat.highway.a1.net)
16:16:44 werneta joins (~werneta@70-142-214-115.lightspeed.irvnca.sbcglobal.net)
17:02:30 qbt joins (~qbt@user/edun)
17:15:11 <liskin> Yeah, pushing to master is fine
17:15:30 <liskin> Also a PR being merged is useful info for users here
17:15:52 <liskin> One needs to be careful when pushing but we're grown ups we can do it
17:38:46 <geekosaur> hm, I'm not seeing any easy way to exclude PR "branches"
17:53:59 <geekosaur> hm, need to examine it a little more closely to see if I can parse /pulls/ out of the "branch" name or something
18:10:19 × qbt quits (~qbt@user/edun) (Quit: WeeChat 3.5)
18:23:22 × steve quits (~steve@ool-182c2b80.dyn.optonline.net) (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
18:36:02 <geekosaur> actually it's just prefix "pull/". might be able to do this after all
18:48:47 × xmonadtrack quits (~xmonadtra@xmonad/geekosaur) (Remote host closed the connection)
18:49:03 xmonadtrack joins (~xmonadtra@069-135-003-034.biz.spectrum.com)

18:49:03 xmonadtrack joins (~xmonadtra@xmonad/geekosaur)
18:49:32 <geekosaur> okay, I think it should now ignore additional commits to PR branches (but show initial commits)
19:06:15 <Hash> I've been using Debian bullseye with enlightenment in a VM since last night
19:06:24 <Hash> I'm going to try to see if Xmonad works well with it or not.
19:06:35 <Hash> Going to try default Xmonad, no my own config or anything.
19:08:02 <Hash> geekosaur: oh yeah, I know of the KDE thing, I think I understand fairly well how KDE is doing things, so if they change the nature of the two functions more than what is in my patches on the github issue you linked, I'll continue posting patches even if I don't use KDE (if I happen to switch to enlightenment, which is a big if)
19:08:40 <geekosaur> actually I'd misread what you had said and thought you were adding KDE stuff instead of removing it, sorry
