01:53:50 <HP-UX> Hello, due to Ubuntt 22 not supporting my old nvidia card, Ihad to back go 20.04, where I have nvidia 340.
01:54:18 <HP-UX> OI
01:54:56 <HP-UX> I build everything using stack, latest 0.17 in ~/.local/bin/ but xmonad isn't in there for some reason
01:54:59 × sogens quits (sogens@gateway/vpn/protonvpn/sogens) (Quit: WeeChat 3.6)
01:55:42 <HP-UX> So I am trying to build xmonad again, using stack and I get the error that lib> /home/stoned/.stack/setup-exe-cache/x86_64-linux-tinfo6/Cabal-simple_mPHDZzAJ_3.4.1.0_ghc-9.0.2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found (required by /home/stoned/.stack/setup-exe-cache/x86_64-linux-tinfo6/Cabal-simple_mPHDZzAJ_3.4.1.0_ghc-9.0.2)
01:55:57 <HP-UX> I see, sudo apt-cache show libc6 and it says 2.31
01:56:20 <HP-UX> Is Xmonad 0.17 not compatible with older libc?

12:28:10 <geekosaur> @tell Sky01js nothing should stop your config from working just because you used the package manager to install

13:46:14 <HP-UX> Hello
13:46:18 <HP-UX> I figured out more of the problem
13:46:19 <HP-UX> It's not KDE
13:46:54 <HP-UX> I tried multiple versios of KDE, debian, another distro or two, same thing each time, building 0.17 from stack, using that, and mod+p and mod+q and few others don't work.
13:47:43 <HP-UX> I am on debian stable now, no kde nothing, just plain simple pure debian, plus xorg, plus xmonad (from repo, 0.15) and keys all work again
13:47:54 <HP-UX> So I don't know what is going on
14:00:20 <[Leary]> HP-UX: Well, I have a couple of thoughts. Firstly, setting `keys = refocusLastKeys` means discarding the defaults. As is shown in the module documentation, you probably want `keys = refocusLastKeys <> keys def`.
14:01:27 <HP-UX> yeah
14:01:34 <HP-UX> I fiugured that out just now
14:01:46 <HP-UX> in 0.17 that added bit cost me this
14:02:11 <HP-UX> I figured geek looked at it a while ago, when I asked if there was anything wrong with it and he said check KDE so I spent a whole day checking KDE hehe
14:02:14 <HP-UX> np
14:02:46 <HP-UX> I'm on Debian right now and I had forgotten how ridiculously fast debian is compard to ubuntu
14:02:49 <HP-UX> ubuntu is slow.
14:03:27 <HP-UX> Now I'm trying to decide what to do about the nvidia and all that, my video cad is too old and nouveau driver is very unstable
14:06:08 <HP-UX> i might try arch, but that has nvidia for later kernels, for my 340 driver
14:06:53 <HP-UX> but that's a rolling release, and I'll have to patch up kde's plasmaframework again and again... how long can you hold such a base package
14:07:10 <geekosaur> I missed that part, sorry. I should have gone back and checked after noticing you had both additionalKeys and additionalKeysP, shoulda known you were also overriding keys
14:07:14 <HP-UX> other than debian 10 or ubuntu 20, my video card isnt' supported.
14:07:17 <geekosaur> we have too many ways to define new keys
14:07:41 <HP-UX> geekosaur: no need to apologize. I appreciate you guys so much
14:07:48 <HP-UX> I'm not upset
14:08:02 <HP-UX> I did go on a date yesterday after like a long time, and lost my glasses :(
14:08:26 <HP-UX> So there's that. And my phone died on the way to her, so I had to buy a new charger from a store which was more than it should have cost
14:08:39 <geekosaur> we should also update it to use one of the newer ways to define keys
14:09:02 <geekosaur> also, btdt re that last
14:09:18 <geekosaur> could barely afford it 😞
14:09:48 <HP-UX> Now I'm just trying to figure out if I should go with ubuntu 20 or 22
14:10:15 <HP-UX> 20 has my gpu support, but 22 has newer programs, lol. but no more nvidia 340 support
14:10:20 <HP-UX> \o/
14:11:00 <HP-UX> Other than the system lagging when obs studio is running, and some odd game 3d accel, I don't really even need 3d from nvidia binary
14:11:19 <HP-UX> maybe I can be okay with nouveau, but it's so buggy and unstable.
14:11:50 <HP-UX> I could go with arch, has my gpu support, but... keeps updating plasmaframework which I need to keep patching for Xmonad to work...
14:12:26 geekosaur has a phone call now, will vanish for a bit
14:12:29 <HP-UX> And I'm freaking exhausted right now. Been up all night figuring this out. My stupid mistake
14:12:39 <HP-UX> have a good day
