| 21:35:13 | <haskellbridge> | <m1mir> Hi! I know this is probably a dumb question but I thought it does not hurt anyone to ask. Is it possible to run some XMonad.Core.X without actually being in an X11 server? I don't expect anything that is done this way to be useful or usable in a config, I'm just really curious. |
| 21:42:25 | <geekosaur> | you can't build an XConf without an X11 Display (server connection), so no. you *could* use it with Xvfb, but I'm not sure what you would do with it |
| 21:50:25 | <haskellbridge> | <m1mir> I was trying to figure out if I can "render" layouts, by which I mean get the rectangles that they output so "screenshots" could be generated for this issue https://github.com/xmonad/xmonad-contrib/issues/160. |
| 21:51:18 | <haskellbridge> | <m1mir> I mean screenshot very loosely what I'm thinking about could even be an svg. |
| 21:52:18 | <geekosaur> | Xvfb might work for that if you have a client connected that could be triggered by something in a logHook to do a screen capture and render it |
